Water breaking on the rocks at Magic Island, Oahu. I've just started my photography course and would appreciate any critique good or bad as well as how i could improve. Everyone here on Caedes has inspired me to want to become better at taking photos, not just regular photos, but ones that will make people go Ahhh.... But I have a long way to go since I'm only on my first unit. Thank you for sharing with me!

I like the soft blurred effect that the longer shutter speed had on the waves... it makes the photo have an almost dream-like quality. I'm not sure how you could improve on this photo - I like it just the way it is. Welcome to the Caedes family.

Well me too, AAAAAHHHHH... great diagonal on the composition and there's a wonderful contrast between the blue green water and the stolid, solid rocks. I like the blur of water, it DOES make the image seem somewhat dreamy.

Well, Kalyn, if this is only your first unit and you're already producing imasges of this quality then I think you're heading on the path to going professional! I like this shot very much. The composition is spot-on and the colours are excellent. The only small suggestions I would make are to sharpen the image a touch more to bring out the contours of the foreground boulders a little better, and also to lighten the foreground shadows just a touch more - only very slightly - for similar reasons. I look forward to seeing some more of your work on Caedes!
