Satellite Beach Florida during a wash up of hundreds (thousands?) of Man o War. They were literally all over the beach. I have been here before and seen small starfish wash up in great numbers as well.

Thanks Mary! It was just the right place at the right time. My wife pointed this one out, freshly beached, and we took a shot at it....

Pretty good capture of this character! I saw the same phenomena a year ago while vacationing in Florida. My camera didn't capture one quite as clearly. It is truly a sight to behold in seeing them all over the beach. Thanks for sharing this with us ;=)

Aaah, is that like a bluebottle, which we get here in Oz? Little, nasty and painful? This is a great image which means a lot coming from someone whith such a dislike of these things, believe me:)

Keep away from them buggers!...had a friend got 'stung' by one on holiday!...And boy did he suffer!...nearly had to take his leg off!..luckily he's fine now!..
Exceptional shot and well composed!

This is the best Man o War I have ever seen. We do not get the pink colour on them in Australia.......well at least not that I have seen. I have many photographs of them but they do not seem so cool now that I have seen this one. Well done!

I'd have to say that you sure can make a Man-O-War look pretty. Fortunately I haven't seen them here in quite a long time. I don't remember the pink on them either. Maybe cause it's it's so freshly washed up. They can pack a wallup on you!

Beautiful shot! They looks so cool, I saw one wash up when I was in Florida once, such an alienated species. Thank you for sharing!
