Tyler - Good to see a posting from you - it's been a while! I like this royal frog, dressed in purple. Thad

How can something so ugly be so beautiful?
A truly enigmatic picture. I love it!

Overall an interesting shot, with the typically gross subject well-portrayed. I like the colors as well, as they create an inquisitive look on the frog. The perspective and camera angle however cause me to feel unbalanced, as though I am about to fall over. A tilted camera angle can be very helpful for many shots, but on this one it just doesn't feel as though it is working for you. I hope this helps a little, and have a great day!

Some good good constructive critique in Delkaoth's words above.

Clarity and detail are good.

Compositionally? Good (in terms of placement of the frog within frame, as the frog's eyes are offset from center).

Now, to my eyes and in my humble opinion ... seems to me that your colour balance is off. So ... check your in-camera 'white balance' settings. (Delve into your camera's manual.)

A Curves adjustment or Levels adjustment in an image editing program would assist towards the same end of a proper white balance setting ... after the fact, in post processing.

Personally, I would use a Curves adjustment ... some times whites get a tad blown out with a Levels adjustment. In short, a bit more editing control with Curves.

And since 'we' are throwing the kitchen sink at you, in terms of some help ... watch your background. The red-orangey leaf that is laying on the grass is a distraction.

I do like the DOF you employed. Blurring out some of the background allows or forces your viewer's eyes to be where they should.

Cookie?

/\ Just kidding a bit.

Took a look at your galleries after composing the above. You and your camera are certainly up to any photographic challenges, it would appear.

Got me wondering if perhaps a monitor calibration is in order on your end?

/\ Just some thoughts and ... creative food for thought, for you. :o)
