A member of a migrating flock. I was actually trying to get a picture of a different one in a tree above when he landed right behind me. Taken this past July with a Canon 300D(EF 100mm).

What a handsome bird. It almost looks like he gets some of his coloring from those berries he's eating.

Nice shot of a fantastic bird! We get them here but only in the top of cedars, I never really got a close-up look before.
And a nice clear image too, good reflexes!
Thank You.

These are so awesome. On their wing, they have some little yellow feathers that just sparkle. Thank you for posting this beautiful shot.

The detail of it's feathers is what really gets me here! I love it!

This is probably one of the best bird photos I have ever seen. The composition is superb - I can almost "feel" the silky softness of the feathers. The colors are captured perfectly. Definitely a 10 and in my favs. Thank you for posting this image! ~ Jan

I have not seen one of these since I moved five miles across town! What a beautiful shot. The berries that you caught him with add bursts of color and I like the DOF that lets the foreground plants blur. Feels more like we're spying that way.
