At our new home we lease out some of the acreage to people who need a place for their horses. And at the moment we have two mares who are both pregnant, well, the one had her little colt today! Early this morning! So I am posting a photo to share with you of this lovely little baby boy horse! He's about 5 hours old here..Such a precious thing to see. I will post another one also. I hope you all enjoy these pictures. It is so amazing how fast the newborn stands up, just minutes after it was born...and it not only feeds from Mom but also begins eating the grasses right away. They even ran together within 7 hours of its birth! Amazing!!

How adorable Verena! What a beautiful photograph - it went straight onto my desktop. How lucky you are to be able to have horses on your land and to witness a mare with her new born colt - priceless!

Awww, I love this. The little one is so precious and Mom has beautiful, gentle eyes... I love the expression of her face. I think she's happy. The baby is curious and willing to learn more about the surroundings... soon he'll begin exploring. ;) Great capture.

Oh, there's the other photo. I hadn't viewed it yet. How precious. Boy, what lucious grass they have to eat. You'll have a ball watching this little one grow. OMG, what a rare moment you are sharing with us. The mother looks so serene and happy and the colt is soooo adorable! mommy reminds us of our lovely morgan/quarterhorse that we had for 25 of his 34 years. Nothing more lovely than a black horse with white accents. Doesn't momma look proud.
