These wonderful old Locomotives were parked by the Tulip fields. I know nothing about them, but thought they were worthy of my taking a photo of them. They were once working Locomotives. Maybe some of you know a bit more about them?

Those are some classics, Verena. You got some nice planters of tulips too. I like that cloudy sky, and all the colors in this shot.

Verena - How many fields were prepared and harvested with these tractors - the stories they could tell! The clouds above are an interesting part of the photo. Thad

Excellent post Lady V! My grandfather had one of these. It was used along with a huge belt to run the grain thrashing machine. This truly was a beast of burden. Thanks for the fine memory jolt.

I believe they are old thrashing machines, maybe some are powered by steam or horses pull the belts. Nice image though.

These old steam engines are hell on stout Verena. They would park them and then bring the grain to them to do the thrashing. They even have a festival every year in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. My late father never missed one. You can learn all about it here.
Good shot. Thanks for the memories.

I go the Threshing Bee in Madison SD every summer. I get to see the beasts at work running the Threshing machines and plowing very slowly. Nice photo.
