This is called a Globe Artichoke, it is edible as the others, but only before it blooms like this.It's grown for the 'buds' if you wish to eat them. If you allow it to bloom, its in your garden for looks only! And it is so beautiful. It's what we call the Queen of the Garden!! It's a member of the thistle family.It grows to about four feet tall and four feet wide.It's actually a hard plant to grow. I had this one in my garden about two years ago. I 'rediscovered' the photo and wanted to share this beauty with you.
