I'd like to try a little experiment. The Tips received a 16 in the c-index which really means nothing, but if it did, it should mean that a few people had to clean up the mess of spraying that mouthful of 7-up that they just took all over their computer screen. While I know this isn't too likely I would REALLY like to see some comments as to why you DON'T like this. I've got a thick skin, be honest without fear of insult. I will appreciate comments to the contrary as well, of course.

I think this is a good shot.... not as sharp an image as it could be but using those macro rings takes time... i havent got mine fully figured yet.... this makes an interesting piccy :)

Rob, I think this is good - agreeing with Ian about sharpness - but like anything, one can't be expert the first few times out. For me I guess I'm looking for close-ups of something colorful. That's just me! You're doing great, I'll be dropping a line looking for help when I get to the pro-macro equipment! ~Mary~

I like it...it is natural and abstract at the same time. Bird's feather, yes?

Until sharonva said "feather" I was thinking that this was a leaf and that your macro was THAT close, so I guess I'm enjoying the view more than I knew. I wish I had your macro equipment, I can tell you that, and I can also tell you that I did not vote on that last image you spoke of, or at least not yet. Just a suggestion that has already been verbalized: maybe something with more color and a little more recognizable with these first attempts would help ?? Just a thought :)

i like this, its interesting to see the feather close up, but at the same time, while its interesting , its not something i would put on my desktop, its something i have sat and investigated for a while having said that...!

Other than being slightly blurry, I see nothing wrong with this close up image. I personally like what you have done here. Don't get too hung up on the C-index. You can't really know the tastes of the person that had to vote on it to post their own style of image. Be proud of your work and enjoy learning how to make the next image even better than the last.

This is more interesting than the first image. There wasn't much to look at in the last one to be honest and in terms of a desktop (sinc ethat's probably how at least some of the voters viewed it) it probably wasn't very interesting? This one has more to look at and it does show in the c-index (comparative to the last one). I agree with Heidlerr that it does look blurry in many places at full size; of course depending on the size of the feather it might be amazingly detailed but not many people are giong to think about that.
