I stumbled upon a small pencil sketch in Internet, called Stountt (unfortunately no author was credited) and was amazed by the mountain drawn there! So I re-created this mountain in Photoshop. I think it may be illustration for some scandinavian myth - if you know what this is, let me know! (please use my site to contact me) More resolutions at http://www.vladstudio.com/wallpaper/?513 Thanks!

What a great find. I wish I could help you out, but I can only stand here and admire :)

No help here, but it looks great. Definitely has that look of ancient maps where they were half drawing, half map and depicted legendary beasts. No beasts, but why not a legendary mountain?

For some reason, the mound of rocks reminds me of a Darlek, which I cannot even spell. This is clearly ridiculous but is currently distracting me from commenting further. (But not so much that I don't know I like it and I don't think I'd be keen on it if you'd stuck a picture of a Darlek in the middle. Not even a correctly spelt Darlek.)

These maps are also reminding me of all the maps I used to draw as a kid of fantastic places and fictional lands. Rather like the maps you got in the Wizard of Oz books, for example. I'd spend ages creating maps and making up names and places to fill them. They didn't look any good, of course, but your map series is just reminding me how absorbing that could be...

Do you think the letters are an encrypted messageg that might be accessible to code-breaking? Quite wonderful. Reminds me a bit of the maps in the Lord of the Rings...
If you find out more, do post it on this site. Everyone will want to know more about this mystery.

Cool. It looks great and mysterious.

If I'm not mistaken, those characters are called rune.
I tried to translate it but it doesn't make any sense at all, plus there are some characters that I never see before.
