I stumbled upon this kind of map in souvenir shop in New Zealand. I immediately fell in love with this idea! Because I love maps; and I love when things suddenly go upside down; and I love when familiar things get unexpected look! This artwork is designed with large printing in mind - it will look perfect as large poster! On smaller screens, all details might look too little though. I hope you will enjoy it! As always, created in Photoshop, with Wacom. Work duration: 12 hours precisely (non-stop :-). More sizes, download for mobile phone, play puzzle, send e-card, buy posters, bugs and more: http://www.vladstudio.com/wallpaper/?upside_down_world_map Thanks!

Actually, Columbus used a map that had it's origin in the hands of a Chinese cartographer who had visited the islands, east of central America, 71 years earlier. If you look at a copy of his map you will see islands in the same shape and position as the ones there today but his map indicated active volcanoes on certain ones. If no non-native had ever been there before, why would his map have included these islands? Also, geophysicists and vulcanologists today know that those volcanoes were active in 1421 when the Chinese visited there but sound asleep in 1492 when Columbus arrived. So why would the volcanos have appeared active on the map Columbus carried? It's an Anglo-enforced interpretation, for the majority of people, to believe that Columbus, or even Leif Erickson were the first ones on this side of the pond. We should do well to remember that history is almost always written by the victor. Sorry, Vlad, kinda got off the subject of your very cool map. I like the way you keep looking at the world with fresh eyes and then presenting it to us.
