This was actually taken several weeks ago. Tomorrow I'll post a shot of what this looks like now. At a time when we don't see flowers or other things blooming there is another type of life budding! This is an Arborvitae tree, a type of evergreen in the Cyprus family. Arborvitae actually means Tree of Life in Latin. It's resin supposedly has medicinal value. To see how it looks later Look Here

The contrasts here are amazing, Hilda. This is so beautiful and you're right about the march of life, no matter what the season. In my faves, and I'm glad I'm the first to congratulate you on another well captured photo :)PJ

Now that's really interesting. This is a cedar, right? Interesting buds and I love the blue green colors.

I'm so glad you posted this Hilda. I saw one of these at the Arboretum and loved it so but couldn't find anyone to ask about it. It's color and clarity are amazing and the composition is perfect. Excellent post friend.

Great look at this Arborvitae. Makes for a nice desktop. These are quite common on Long Island. I put a row of these on the side of my house when I first bought it. They were merely shrubs. 30 years later I had a row of 30 ft trees. :o)

These almost looked like berries, Hilda, and then what an amazing tranformation they made into pinecones. Both are exceptionally well done - thanks!
