This is a belated birthday wish for PJ (Phasmid, Jan. 14), whose friendship, support and counsel I can always rely on! We've had 3 amazing days of fog and hoar frost on everything. These conditions happen so rarely and it was so beautiful that I wanted to try and capture some of it to share.

Hilda - The b/w treatment if perfect for this gorgeous scene. On tonight's news, there was a film clip about the hoary frost in your state. I like how the meandering stream draws the eye up the center of the photo into the frost-covered trees. Beautiful work! Thad

I love the way the stream meanders through the picture, beautifully framed by the frost-defined branches.

Hey, remember me?

:oP

Ok, kidding stuff aside ... when I had viewed your other image, namely that of "Tree in fog" ... thought to have a look through your galleries and see what else was new. Came across your image here.

And I hesitate in mentioning the 'C' word ... but, I was perplexed at the index received.

First, and as mentioned above by other commentators ... very strong, compositionally speaking.

Caveats?

Well, with a qualifier (read on ...).

Aside from a minor crop (of sorts, to crop out the power lines at the top, and then that of the small area in the lower left hand side that connects to the outside framing) ... think that when viewed ... some people may not be familiar (possibly?) with the resultant environmental conditions of the fog/frost that you make mention of in your accompanying narrative.

And subsequently ... see your photo in an slightly overexposed light.

That said, your image here leaped out at me ... as it is a setting/scene that I truly enjoy. (Might be the Canucklehead (Canadian, to be clear) roots in me.)

Still, and with that said ... no denying the strength of your composition here.

I think it is beautiful image.

A suggestion?

Perhaps try some additional toning. Sepia, whatever.

As I did so, after having downloaded your image here ... and found it aided in ... wait, I think I have your email. I shall send it to you, to save your eyes some further wear and tear from a more protracted 'purmusic wall of text'. ;o)

And part (for now) on these final words ...

Thanks for sharing this one with us. :o)
