This is my entry to the Place Where I Live contest. I could use any photo of mine as I take most of my pictures nearby, but this one has special meaning for me. This is a place where I've lived and loved, rather than just a photo of my 'home'. My 95 year old father-in-law, Roger, passed away last summer and this was taken at his home. He went off this bag swing the day I got married and his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren grew up riding on this swing over the years. (I even went off it a few times though it was a pretty scary jump from the tree!) This was our last chance to enjoy it before Roger's house was sold. It was the Last Ride and though it was a sad time I loved the joy on the faces of the kids. I'm sure that made Roger smile.

I would have taken the swing home with me Hilda. There's got to be someplace the hang it around your place. :) It's sad sometimes the way things change......and sometimes we don't even appreciate or know how special they really are until they're gone.

A perfect panned shot, Hilda, as well as a great natural portrait. And the story is both sad and heartwarming.
I couldn't imagine a better choice for the contest.

Definitely a family keeper I would say. Great action shot! Nice job keeping the subjects in focus while the rest of the image shows the movement. Very well, done.

Wow...I am impressed with the perfect focus of those happy kids (all three of them!), combined with the great sense of motion in the background.
