Once a year we're privileged to travel north where we can see and hear these birds. This one was giving us quite a display to distract our attention from its family. For Pat, (Icedancer) who shares my love of loons.

Wonderful! I love these birds. We have them here in Sweden every summer. They are part of the short Swedish summer. They make a melancholy sound that is almost heart breaking but is perfect for the long beautiful summer nights. Excellent capture!

A standing loon - very different - have seen and heard them in northern wisconsin but have never seen a standing one Hilda! good catch.

Great shot. I watched a nature show that featured loons doing their mating dances and such. This looks very similar to one of those. Again,very good capture.
