This is a Cinder cone on the lower eastern slopes of Mauna Kea, with Kohala in the background, on the big island of Hawaii. Just returned, what an amazing place that island is.

You captured a beautiful piece of a beautiful island! I love the foreground fence posts and the way it all flows together. We've been there! Did you snorkel or scuba with the manta rays? That was my favorite thing to do, besides soaking up all this beauty!

How lovely it is when unexpected blessings come into my life to cheer me up and put a smile into my heart. Help me to pass them on, dear Lord. Fay Angus

Definitely snorkeled, but not with manta rays. However, we were at City of Refuge and there was a large pod of dolphins (about 30 of them) swimming only a few hundred feet from the shore and in completely calm water. They didn't mind us getting to within about 5 feet of them, but they kept moving and you would have to be at the right place at the right time when they came up for air every 2 minutes or so to get that close. But you could watch them from above swimming along the ocean floor in quite a relaxed fashion. Wish I had a good underwater camera (can't bring myself to buy the disposables).

I like that you took your picture with the cloud's shadow falling on the focal point of your shot. Thanks for sharing.
