This deer let me come right up and photograph him at Smith Point Beach, Long Island, NY. Comments welcome, good or bad.. and voting appreciated. Learning, learning learning here!
Excellent image!
If I may be bold......
If you wanted to do any touch up here is what I would recommend....
I would clone out the little fuzz up by his eye on the far side...I would clone out the little bit of dribble under his chin also...and it is possible also with a burn or dodge tool in Photoshop to remove some of the glare in his eyes from the sun or flash.
But it doesn't need any touchups! I just get carried away with the small stuff!

This is an excellent close-up capture! I like how this deer isn't even looking at you. Was it in the wild or was it somehow acclimated to humans being in the near vicinity? I like all of the natural things that are in this and think that you really did a heck of a good job :~)
Thanks for posting.
Excellent closeup! These creatures are fun to watch, that is, if they let you get close enough to them and you accomplished that. Thank you for sharing. Sherree
Boy, you ain 't joking about being up close. What an opportunity. You captured the sweet countenance of his face alright. I can look him right in the eye. What detail in his coat and ears. A superb headshot.

Beautiful clarity and detail in the fur. It is strange and wonderful to find an animal so comfortable with your presence to allow a portrait shot like this, even the ears don't seem to show any nervous alert. A lovely post
