This was among my first attempts at aquarium photography with my new Canon Digital Rebel. I like the blurred background, and the fact that I was able to crop out the unusable part of the original photo (about 75%) without too much loss of quality. Although it did not maintain quite the crispness that I prefer, this pretty little fish still seems worthy of such bold portraiture.

Better than I would have gotten with my camera. It really makes an eye catching picture. It is sure to be a winner with the fish lovers.

This is a great first attempt at the aquarium. Excellent focus and I too like the blurred background. Nice work....Bravo.

Nicely done - my fish shots always get a glare off the glass :-(
A note on possible improvement. As you were cropping the background, little fishy here might be better suited centered. The photo would still hold the interest because of his diagonal line.
The blurred background of the telephoto lens works well to draw attention to the little fellow - a couple small edits to clear the water would eliminate distraction.

I'm impressed with this little one. I appreciate your background blending too. I don't mind the focus at all but since you mentioned it, I did attempt some sharpening and had good results with careful levels. I have enjoyed your gallery so far. You have a good eye for composition.
