David, I'll assume that this beauty is your contest entry for "Black and White". As far as I'm concerned they should give first place to you right now. This is nothing less than spectacular. I can't think of a similar shot that I've seen on Caedes. The title is perfect. The viewer gets to decide if this is a shot of man destroying the earth or man's ingenuity and creativity at converting raw materials into something sellable. Personally my vote is with the former. You've delivered us a view of what was once a pristine riverfront but is now a chemical wasteland. Black and white is a splendid choice. The shades of gray are excellent and even on the dark side which makes for a brilliant posting. This shot might as well be on Jupiter. You live in another world. Faved.

I'm not afraid of dying. I just don't want to be there when it happens.

An interesting use of space, David. You made this look sort of like a pano, but left a lot of sky to show us the result of what is going on at ground level, the production of toxic waste. We have a similar eyesore in Western MA. It's called Monsanto/Solutia which also spues lots of smoke and pungent and putrid smells. Your portrayal in b/w of this unpretty sight gives us much to view and ponder. A very creative and thoughtful exposition on our modern world and one of the means by which we pollute our natural environment.

The reason why the sunsets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB

A great capture. I really like photos of industrial landscapes - they have a particular beauty of their own

What is life, if full of care, we have no time to stand and stare - and take pictures!
