This tiger was resting just a couple feet from the glass window into his outdoor enclosure at the Birmingham zoo in Alabama. He was completely ignoring all the screaming glass pounding children and repeated flashes of every camera toting tourist that came by. I used no flash and respected the animals the day I visited the zoo. It made me sad to see the lack of consideration for the animals so many others showed. Strangely, people seemed to show me more respect than the animals just because I was carrying a DSLR camera and a monopod. Remove the glass and I am sure several children would have been eaten promply :P

The reason why the sunsets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB

You've a lovely shot here David. I agree with you about the people who show no respect. It is wonderful that they can observe the animals, but sad that they abuse the privledge - not just children but adults also. Those that used the flash will be so disappointed to see the glare and flashbacks on their photos.

I think, David, that it would have been a more entertaining photo if you had taken it on the other side of the glass. You rarely post action shots. Then again, there might have been some motion blur because tigers are deathly afraid of monopods.

Beautiful posting. Everything technical is right on the mark. Why would anyone use a flash, dumb #%$*'ers.

I'm not afraid of dying. I just don't want to be there when it happens.

Why just the children? lol. It's a lovely image, David, and I am sure it would have fared extremely well in the Contemplation contest. He is beautiful.
