The snow plow has come and gone and all that remains is the quiet of a winter morning.
A cold and desolate December twilight descends on the oak savannah in Louisville Swamp, and with it, the eerie silence of a frozen landscape.
A view upstream on Nine Mile Creek. The upper bridge accommodates city traffic, the lower bridge is a creek crossing for people enjoying the park.
A bit warmer scene than December offers, and colors more vibrant than winter white.
A winter snowstorm coats the woods in white.
A summer sunset from the north woods of Minnesota. A parting gift from Mother Nature on my last night of vacation.
A little bit of fun and my current contest entry
Nothing quiets the landscape like a fresh blanket of snow.
A less colorful season, but winter has it's own particular beauty.
I was feeling a bit cold and nostalgic for autumn this evening.
The view looking out onto a portion of Louisville Swamp. It's quite a different landscape than in summer, and more friendly to photographers, as well. :)
A little bit of winter. Nine Mile Creek - December.
A little bit of summer. Minnesota Landscape Arboretum - July.
Shot in April at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. Aside from the intriguing architecture, this lonely-looking garden scene seemed a bit melancholy.
Taken on a chill, wet, and foggy September morning in Carver Park.
This is an outcropping of bedrock situated in the middle of Louisville Swamp in the Minnesota River Valley. This spot is inaccessible, except in winter, when the swamp is mostly frozen.
Darkness comes early in winter's gardens.
OK. I give up. It's winter. I admit it. It's snowing tonight, another four to eight inches. It's cold...and gets dark too early. And this image is how I feel about it (sigh)... ...But I'll get over it. :)
Shot on the last day of October. All the leaves on the crabapple trees were gone, but the ripe, autumn crabapples remained as late season food for the local wildlife and as one final splash of fall color.
"Walk to the signpost," the voices said, "in the early morning, when you rise from your bed."
