I was lucky enough to be there at the right time. What an amazing sight. It sounded like a volcanic eruption.
We were on our way to Waterton Lakes and this beautiful scene just popped out at me.
I could not stop looking as the dramatic clouds that swept over the range, creating continuous changes. It seemed quite spectacular to me!
Yet another version of this most popular take from Apgar Village in Glacier NP. The haze obscured the beautiful mountains in the background but afforded a dreamy, tranquil view.
In Glacier NP, The Garden Wall is an arête or rock spine that separates the Many Glacier region of the park from Lake McDonald valley. It is still awesome but quite a different landscape in the Fall. I have seen it in August when the area was heavily covered in dozens of species of flowering plants and shrubs.
What can I say?
Yellowstone NP. What an awesome place!
They were everywhere and causing quite a spectacle!
As seen from Sun Point, we stayed to admire a very placid St Mary Lake in Glacier National Park-MT. Three years ago, it was a totally different scene with very high winds. The lake had whitecaps. You can see my post "Unmistakable St Mary Lake".
On our drive to Bozeman, we came upon another place in time. rugged, intense and awesome.
In the middle of nowhere in Wyoming, stood this lovely private residence. Small and unique, it seemed right out of a fairy tale. You could hear the creek that flowed behind me. Sooooooo very peaceful :)
Nostalgia
Best when viewed full screen. Just a quiet place to sit and wonder :)
From the West rim, the helicopter, a bit off center to the left, appears to be a dragonfly. Most of the time, folks can never imagine the degree of immensity and depth. I have visited the Canyon over 9 times and am always in awe! :)
Actually, the Hawk is a Raven that did not rhyme with Skywalk LOL. I took this from the rim since no cameras were allowed on the Skywalk. It extends 70 feet over the Grand Canyon’s rim and weighs 1.2 million pounds. Two people with cameras were stationed on the skywalk and took our pictures for $30 a print. I was not very impressed, the views along the surrounding rims were much more awesome and less restrictive. This is what it is...a cash cow. The clear glass was scratched despite the mandatory surgical booties. The surrounding tourist areas were unfinished and makeshift after over 4 years! The charged was over $80...$29.95 to walk the Skywalk and the rest was for a "permit" to be on the premises which belong to the Hualapai Nation! Well controlled and quite a trap. The bright side was a different point of view of the Canyon that is truly Grand. Overall, a good choice if you don't mind the legal ripoff :) There is a 9 mile stretch of unpaved road for those of you who wish to visit. I was impressed, however, about the incredible engineering work, conditions and circumstances that lead to the Skywalk's existence.
Rockefeller Center and it's famously magnificent Christmas Tree. This was the best I could do given the throngs of people who visit. Merry Christmas to all.
Some end of season blooms. Still pretty.
These guys were in a rush to get over to CT.
It is what it is :)
This post is for Cindy. Nothing spectacular...this has remained the same since I was a kid. Still a magnificent view from the top.
