A big round of applause for our latest nominee for the "Artist Spotlight"... The one & only... (drum-roll)... Kodo34!! Be sure to browse and leave comments in his wonderful and varied Gallery.
Thank you all for the nomination, I truly value it. Well, as some of you may know, I live in Belgium (Nieuwerkerken) with my wife Sigrid and our dog Igor.
I first found Caedes surfing for a new wallpaper and was drawn to it's complete mix of fractals, 3-D, and photos. I love all forms of art and this is a great place and a wonderful community for that. After seeing the most wonderful things the members here created I decided to try my hand in it. I started out with fractals and manips from stock images and while I still enjoy doing those I discovered another passion... Photography. After seeing pictures from artists here like Mayne, Paul Gerritsen, and heidlerr (to name but a few) I got hooked.
The first camera I bought was a Minolta z5 but quickly got tired of it (due to lack of control options) and my next one was (and still is) a Canon 20d. I use PhotoShop to do the editing. My main interest in photography is nature in all it forms.
I can say I wouldn't be doing this if it wasn't for you guys. So thanks to all for the support, comments, and advice.

Congratulations Kristof... a well deserved award... I love your work always have done from fractals, 3D, manips, tutorials to the birds, animals, amazing bugs and fungi... Ones that stand out in my mind are Rays - the capture of light and the framing was amazing in that one... Time - wonderful manipulation, Orange Dragon - the amazing detail and colour was fantastic, the wings looked like clear plastic.. and ALL your raptors and macros of bugs... very professional quality to all your work, it is always a pleasure to view....
Well done, now you can sit back.. put your feet up and enjoy your award, you deserve it.. =D

Kristof my friend... a well deserving artist has been given an award! I love all of your work, especially the nature shots. You present nature to us in a new light and give it new life~ one my favorite works is the bluebird with nesting material in their mouth! The other piece that I love so well is a butterfly that you did a collaboration on. It is quite trendy and definitely a keeper. I cannot remember the name of it now.
Enjoy your time in the spotlight. You are very deserving of it and I am proud and honored to be able to view your work.

I have been wondering when we'd have another artist in the spotlight as it's been awhile and I am soooo glad to see it's back and you as the latest featured artist...long overdue and very deserving you are my friend...while reading your bio I was struck by the fact that I don't really remember your fractals being so blown away by your fantastic macros and other photographic works...I was also surprised to learn that it was only since joining caedes that you really got into photography in a big way, your work being so professional...all I can say is "You've come a long way, baby", lol...a big CONGRATULATIONS, Kristof...enjoy all the attention and accolades your images demand.:Pat.

Finally Kristof - our new artist in spotlight! I am so glad for you. This is an honor that you definitely deserve. Thank you for the insight you've given us to the amazing world of nature and wildlife. You continually upload high quality images for our enjoyment and desktop use. Your gallery is outstanding in terms of both quality and diversity, my friend. It is a pleasure to my eyes to see your shots ranging from mushroom series, birds gallery, insect close-ups to flowers, manipulations and tutorials you have provided. Personally you gave me great inspiration to move on to macro world and to investigate in every detail the tiny little bits around us. I just took a test drive through your gallery, and man! i've been missing out on some great work. in particular i liked your work with the zebras, and it inspired a little post work on a pic of zebras i took over the weekend (you can count on getting credit for the inspiration when i post it). from the few comments of yours i've read, i'm guessing this couldnt happen to a nicer guy. Congratulations - you surely do deserve this! I am still fairly new to all this, but you have amazed me with your range of subjects and work. It is an artist's eye that sees the pictures you do in so many objects.I still think " lb#5 ", the ladybug on the barb wire is my favorite. There is something so innocent about that little creature on that somehow sinister wire.. hard to explain, but it " gets to me. " and that is why people love art.

Hello Kristof...what an honor...for you to receive. As you know, I have always enjoyed your many creative postings. I have learned a lot from you, and I can only hope to be able to figure out how to do some of those lovely things someday.You know, its not the award that's important, but the fact that so many people enjoy your work. Ashamedly I must admit Kristof that I didn't know who you were when I saw you're Caedes user name. I looked at your gallery and at that point the bells went off and I put a name to some fantastic photography. After reading your biography, I see that we both had relatively the same start in the wonderful art of photography and share the same passion for macro work.

In your case being made artist in the spotlight appears to be an honor that should have happened a long time ago as your images are very professionally done and a pleasure to observe. The last time I saw one of your images in my voting booth it was given a 10 (“Engine”) and it deserved it.
Your choices of subjects are attention getting and are compositionally perfect. Their artisticness are of such quality they deserve to be printed, mounted, framed and put in an art gallery.

Congrats, Kristof. I have been enjoying your work for a while now. Like others have said, your work is truly professional and is a credit and inhancement to this site. I just breezed through your gallery and thought I would pick out whatever one I thought was one of your best. That was not easy. But "Owl Eyes #2" gets the nod. It's enough to mesmerized me.

Congratulations Kristof! I am sorry for the late entry, but I just discovered this little place to make comments for the spotlighted artists. An artist you are indeed! I remember writing to you not too long ago to get advise on taking macro shots. You were prompt in replying and most generous with the information and tips that you provided to me. Regretably, I learned that my camera was not up to par to take the shots that I wanted, but I have had my eye on the new Canon Rebel XTi, and hope to get it soon.
As mentioned to you previously, you are truly an inspiration to me, through your works as well as through your encouraging comments left on my works.
