I have (after a long wait) opened the B&W contest for entries. This contest took quite a while to prepare because I wanted the new Caedes Contest system to be in place for it. This system will automatically manage the contests so that we can do them more often. The system is pretty complex, so there is a good chance that there are some bugs to fix. Please let me know if you see anything out of the ordinary.

.SatCom	Just entered my image into the contest. If I followed it correctly, then it was a breeze to use. I love the set up and thanks to you for putting so much time into it just for us members who love this community and all it has to offer. =Samatar	Looks like a simple solution to what used to be something which requured a fair but of running around. I recall that we often used to stipulate that only new uploads could be accepted into contests; if this were still the case might it be possible to set it so that only images uploaded since the contest started appeared in the lust? Or we could just scrap that rule... Also wondering if this new system will make it easier for members to initiate contests themselves?   -Everyone is entitled to my opinion-
*caedes	Actually Sam, your feature request #1 is already implemented. =D We will very easily be able to initiate new contests. By default, the contest topic will be determined by vote, but this is easily bypassed if desired. I'd eventually like to allow people to simply click on a button to start a new contest automatically, but for know it will have to go through me.   -caedes

=Samatar	That is how you pick out which photo you want to enter in the contest Verena. You just upload the image and then pick it out of the list, rather tgan the old method where a mod would have to move it to the contest gallery manuallt. .doubleheader	the way I understand this to work is...upload a b/w image as you would load a regular one.. then on the contest page, click on the drop down box and click on that image you just loaded.. then choose it to be the contest image..right??..I'll be tryin it later...=D   Individual patriot first,Conservative second..God Bless America...

*caedes	The links to the old contest results pages are fixed. Some of the images are black because they were deleted since the contest occurred.   -caedes
.Con_	Everything went as smoothly as one could hope in both posting and registering my entry into the BW contest. BUT... there is still a problem in the past contests... the thumbnails do not show... some are represented by squares of 1"x1" while others have 1/10"x1/10" squares. When I click on the blank square, no matter its size, I am brought to the posted entry and comments. As you said... :o)   MGBWYA

I think it would be kinda nice to be able to view the entries by thumbnails or at least list so that a person could verify that a certain image has indeed been entered into the current contest. This would be a good feature since we must use a two step entry process (post then enter) and I would hate to see someone post an image and think that automatically put his image into the contest. AND since this is a community... we could verify and warn someone of a non-entered image. .Con_	Tick, I may be wrong since I have not tried it... but I suspect that you would have to post the new image and then select it for entry into the contest. That in itself would automatically remove your prior image from the contest. :o) Some others... just a note... my eyes seem to see about 11 images entered into the contest that I feel are not B&W... if you were serious about wanting to enter this latest Caedes contest... you should change your entry. Question to 'caedes: Is B&W with colour considered B&W? If yes, then the 11 in the previous 'paragraph' will have to become 6.   MGBWYA

=Samatar	I just viewed the contest gallery and noticed you can't currently set the number of images per page as in the "normal" galleries. Would be nice if you could. Seems to be working well si far, plenty of entrirs! I'd say Con is right that if you enter another image the first will be removed. +philcUK	there is no contest gallery as such from what I understand and before the previous one was cleared out there were only 2 or 3 monotone images in there as I remember? I take it that the usual things also apply - original works only (your own) and not - for instance - new uploads of old posts just recolored?   A smart bomb is only as clever as the idiot that tells it what to do
