Note to ImageMods

Submitted by caedes 05/01/03 3:17 AM GMT

I hereby apoint the ImageMods with the distinct honor and priviledge of moving usergallery images into the main galleries. However with this great power also comes great responsibility: only images at 1280x1024 resolution or better, with a minimum of photo grain, and a maximum of artistic talent shall be moved. Please try to start with the oldest images first and don't move an image untill it gets on the 3rd page of the user gallery.

Details: Ok, what you do is you go to the gallery that the image(s) is(are) that you want to move and then click on the little box next to the name. (I can't remember if the box is there or not for you so I'll check that out). Then you click on the button "move" at the bottom of the page (not the delete button!!!) Please try to resist the urge to move your own work. =)

Thank you for this great honor. ;-)

At the rate people have been uploading lately, I don't think it will take long to get on the 3rd page =). I'm looking at the pictures in user gallery to see how to move them, and can't see how you move them.

Thank you, I will try to use this new found responsibilty wisely and reasonably. That said... What do you think of the imagemods upgrading their own work? For instance should I leave my pictures to be upgraded by ppigeon and winternight? (if indeed any of them merit that honor ;-) Just curious...

Thanks again...

It's rather tricky to compress a JPEG image with a resolution of 1280x1024+ to under 500KB (which I believe is the limit?) and not get a ton of compression artifacts.

I'd suggest raising the filesize bar a little, even just up to 800KB or so. I appreciate that disk space and bandwidth costs big time though, but don't be too stringent on image quality if you're going to insist on 1280x1024 resolutions and sizes [= 500KB.

Weird, a left chevron character comes out as a left square bracket... read that [= as less than or equal to ;)

It says 500k, but it's really much higher. Also it appears my html tag cleaning code isn't quite perfect. Thanks for the ideas bb.

Excuse me, but where is the 'move' button?

Ok thanks for waiting. It should be working now.

Ok, it works now.
I would like to propose this:
The ImageMods should be able to propose the erasing of pictures. If a majority of ImagesMods is okay, then Caedes eliminates the picture.
For example, I propose to erase ' Trash escape in Greece'. What do the other ImagesMods (and Caedes of course) think of it?

Another question.
Is this necessary to have a size of 1280x1024 to move a pic?
We cannot preserve some excellent photos, as those of Samarn, for exemple

If it isn't 1280x1024 you can put it in "other" to keep it from being deleted (at least for now). If you think something should be deleted, move it to "_mod". However, note that you won't be able to actually view that gallery.

Hallo! and thank you Pierre for your comment of my pictures. Is it possible for me to upload new pictures and change my resolution up to 1280x1024?

Sure. Upload the new picture (1280x1024) with a commentary and then delete the old. But the commentaries on the old pictures will be lost. May be Caedes will have another idea...

I might be able to come up with a solution, but there isn't one right now.
