yeah - i totally agree with reddawg. There is some really great images on this site. That would be much better than the icons. However, i did enjoy the icons. I was trying to name them all....I spend entirely too much time on this site..... =)

*sob* *sob* am I really that unloved on this site...my two friends, 1 of which only checked the site like twice, thew other of which checks once a month at MAX, got thier icons on...........but wheres the doggy eh? id on't understand...now you have made me depressed!!!!!! ;) j/k o well, can't win em all, but seriously, he's been on like once, lol

it would be pretty cool to make all the icons into a wallpaper. i don't know why, but i think i would put it up. and a few of you were right, a wallpaper of favorite images in collage would be cool, too. keep it real. and thanks for putting my icon of the gallery. peace.

It's college not collage.

How would you do a collage of favorite images from the sight... they would be pretty hard to see in such a small size....(sort of like the icon thing- and I too spend too much time here- I realized there are a lot of people we haven't seen around here lately)

What about a calendar? Have a "vote" for image that best represents each month.... then put together a 12 or 18 month calendar.....

a collage would not be like the icons, it wouldn't be just thumbnails of all the images in a row. it could even just be pieces of the images, overlapped, mixed, faded in and out around and over eachother... a collage, not just an index of thumbnails. of course you could only do a few in one collage, i'd imagine no more than, mmm, a dozen?

I like the icon poster very much. I like the idea of a photos poster even more. And yes, I'd prefer a collage over college anytime.

clueless... okay but it sounds good to have the top images/favorites made into a "collage" and then made as a background... mine changes every five minutes because i cant decide on which i should put up... but a collage might fix that problem... =) long live sir caedes!

Also, how did you make that? Go into the database then get all the avatars? Or do you have some tool that grabs them all and puts them here by like karma rating or something?

Well, with the poster idea, maybe arrange the avatars/icons around a 3-D logo of "Caedes.net." in the center.

I just made a little script to put the icons together and order them by karma. Only icon for users which have posted one comment were included and only icons which the script thought were not corupted. That's probably why the doggie didn't make it in.

How about a 'Image Mosaic' of all the images on the site (I think that's what those are called). I would look like the caedes.net logo or something when you look at it from a distance.

caedes, i know your not going to edit these by hand, (cant blame you) but like crisfs2000's icon is the third one on the list! and he doesnt even come here anymore, i guess its not a big deal but it was just a thought...

If your going to do a mosaic there's a program out there called "PhotoMosaic" I think or "ImageMosaic", you select the picture you want when you look far and then u select all the pics that make up that far effect... Anyways it's pretty cool.... We have one in our skool's library... It's the pictures of everyone in the skool and when u look far it makes this other graphic.... :D yup

That would be so cool to have an image mosaic

A photo/image mosaic would be absolutely amazing. It would solve the problem of having poster-sized 1600x1200 images, and give everyone at least a few of their favorites.
An icon poster, or mosaic, would be great too, probably less work, and likely more appealing to all users, who might not otherwise have something included in an imagemosaic.
The calendar idea would be amazing too, but we'd need to set up a vote on what image gets what month, and find some company to specifically print them up.
I'm assuming cost will be an issue too, since a $20 calendar would probably sell fewer than a $5 poster.

the calendar would work at least if it were marketed outside of Caedes.net, as in if it were available to people who maybe even haven't heard of the site... just a really nice calendar.

Yes, I was thinking about the photomosaic program at the time, but I don't think it would be very difficult for me to program up my own version of it and avoid the licensing cost. If we got it printed it would most likely be at daprints.com. I've used them before; the quality and prices are top notch.

The calendar idea would be possible only if we got a custom printing deal from a publisher. They are much more expensive to make in small quantities.

Another thought: To combine these two ideas, we can do the photo mosaic and as a signature each contributing artist will get his/her icon at the bottom of the poster.
