Is anyone having trouble rendering with apop 5?? since i've downloaded it i'm having trouble rendering.. it will get so far then stop, i've been trying for 2 days to render a rotten flame.. i've given up...
Anyone got any ideas as to why? or how I can fix it.. its driving me nuts... 8p
Johnny Cochran's famous "If it doesn't fit, you must acquit" line in the OJ Simpson trial in 1995 is considered by many to be the key moment in the acquittal of his client from murder charges.
Just had a thought as I was trying to d'l the new version and the mirror site killed my browser, lolol.
Have you rendered a flame as yet with this newer version?
If not, delete the one you have and download it again and give'er another try. Thinking here that perhaps the original .exe file might have gotten corrupted? Maybe?
You know like, perhaps, your pc was wearing an extra Apop glove underneath or something when you first downloaded it. ;o)
I wish I could help you hon, but I'm lost. And version 2,04 is set to be timed out the end of this month. I can't use the Flam3 because I messed up my path & I don't know how to set it right.
Not only THAT, but does 2.05 consume all of your resources ? And suck up a lot of memory too ?
Ok, here's what happened with me and my adventures with the new version.
I imported a saved file, created way back when with 2.03c ... it worked fine in 2.04b ... into, as a saved parameter and file into 2.05b.
Things went wrong very quickly when I went to render. I had tried manipulating the transforms in the editor prior to rendering. Now ...
I do recall on the thread ... where Lauren first made mention of the newer version being available ... this, as mentioned by Keith, and I quote his quote from Zeuk;
"EVERYBODY is advised to remember that there is a new file format for this version ....
as mentioned ... HERE
Quote ... I must warn you here:
WARNING! Apophysis 2.05 uses new file format which is INCOMPATIBLE with old versions of Apo and flam3. ... The previous "hexadecimal" gradient format has a problem, so we got to change it. So, if for some reason you will want to save flames for use with previous versions - check this option.
whether this applies ONLY to gradients .. I don't know
PLAN ACCORDINGLY"
Quoth this Apop man, nevermore. (Ok, that was a dumb joke and stab at nothing, 'cause I got nothing. Lol.)
Sorry for not providing any links. Perhaps, there is some mention in Zeuk's journal on DA?
At the worst ... at least for me, I lost one flame so far. Because prior to rendering I saved the old in the new (with the changes I had made) and that's when things took off for an exotic island I know not where.
Hmm, this pith helmet is going to come in more handy than I thought ... I will add to this if I find out something. Don't despair ... it will work out. :o)
Lauren ... as to your question as to how much resources the program uses ... not much. I just checked. I was using approximately 46% of my 512 RAM before opening Apop 2.05b ... it went up to 51% and then settled at a comfortable 49%. Now, that is without having a render underway. But ... but I would think that with you having 1024 RAM, it would not pose a problem.
actually Jac, having never so much as attempted a fractal, i wouldnt know where to begin. some of the ones i have seen here are out of this world, and some...well, nevermind :P
LOL... well i got one rendered... and Les.. The one i'm trying to render was made in apop 2.5 and trying to render in apop 2.5.. one last try and i'll just scrap it.. lol
I think .. the warning about diff file format means you can't go backwards and render a version FIVE (nods to J) with version FOUR (nods to K) ... unless you check the "save as old file format" box (where ever THAT might be)
and .. LAUREN .. RE: Flam3 ... place your flam3 folder in your C:\ ROOT directory .. then your path in the options screen will be C:\flam3\flam3-render.exe .. (or WHATEVER makes sense to an Ohioan)
I have successfully rendered via FLAM3 and apo FIVE (nods to J) ... anybody needing help send $1000.00 to my offshore acct
well i have rendered 2 on apop 5 today.. it worked ok so whatever it was fixed its self.. i hope.. *psst baby big ears.. don't forget we share the profits.. =PP
C'mon, seriously Moe!! You need to get back in the game buddy! As much as I admire your photographic skills, you're one of the best Apop artists here. With the new versions and scripts, I can only imagine what you could do..=)
Not too bad a deal, methinks. I will echo Larry's words though ... you do do some tremendous work in the fractal arena ... it would be a shame if you stopped. A sabbatical? Sure, who doesn't need a break creatively now and then.
As for your photography? Really nice work there. Your macro shots are great, so why not do both and be the envy of both digital and photographic artists?
*turns to Larry* ... "Ok, beer's on you, I think we got him at least thinking."
