they ought to ban the people that do that.
and/or give them the option to not vote on particular images...

I don't know if this is really an issue. From what i have understood (things might have changed) the voting booth takes into account how a member votes and then spreads their votes accordingly. So if someone is always voting low (0s) then they are adjusted already. I don't know if that is all true or not, but i think so.

I'd be happier if every picture they downloaded was the south end of a north-going Yak

ahh to be of the majority for a change...

the problem isn't with people voting all zeros or tens all the time, rather with people acting as a collective to selectively big up or knock down images with inexplicably high or low scores for no other reason than personal agendas.

Collectives -If this is known to be happening then why can it not be stopped? Is it speculation or a known fact because if it is a known fact in my opinion they should be banned.
If it is known to be happening then it must be known who is guilty of it. Does the site need or want that type of member. It would seem to make a mockery of those of us who try to vote fairly and honestly.

The only way such a collective could be successful is if they outnumbered the people who try to vote fairly. They would be the majority, and such a voting system this will always be possible. I seriously doubt that this is happening, but one thing you can do to ensure that it never does is to encourage more people to vote well and to vote fairly yourself.

i myself have been lax recently again due to well... overwork and then frustration w/the site's slowness and other recent quirks (which the Great Eye has been working on as quickly as possible).

However, I still stand behind it, and i'm workin on gettin my butt back into the booth. So should everyone else.

Yes, more people voting more often would limit the ability to orchestrate a manipulation of scores as would an indeterminate delay of at least say, a day, in the time it takes for a new image to appear in the voting booth.

the instant gratification of seeing one's image is nice but I'd wait a day or so if it meant a chance at keeping the vote...purer.

0 is a number - it represents the quantity of nothing; infinity on the otherhand is not a number - you can't lay a finger on it on a number line.

Black and white are 'all the colors'...black is pigments [your printer for example] (CyanMagentaYellow...then they put a K in there which i have no idea what it means), and white is light [your nice CRT monitor for example] (RedGreenBlue). They are basically opposite colors in a way (if you look at the color wheel).

In terms of Perception, Black like Greys and White, is an achromatic colour: a colour without hue and saturation (or "strength").
If the term is intended to be Physical (physical and psychophysical concepts are often confused) and Black refers to a total absence of visible radiation (light) then, if there is no physical stimulus, there can be no physiological response: no response-> no perception-> no colour.
