I am wondering what people think about having a humor gallery on here? Would that be too much?

Comedy art. I don't see why not, though it may raise issues on the differing opinions of what is funny. Some humor pictures that are worth looking at if you'd like to know what I'm talking about can be found on www.b3ta.com.

Yes, that's what I was worried about too. With so many different opinions, who would decide what is? Maybe we could have the voting in that gallery be for the humor and then comment on the quality of the image itself in the comment section. Or have two vote ratios somehow? I don't know.

bjb, Alex and the rest of the members,

The ImageMods have been considering a humor gallery for a while, but there are not enough images yet to start it.

So all you members out there, if you have an "original" humorous image, you are encouraged to post them. :c)

the only problem that I find with this idea is, This is a desktop wallpaper site, do you really think that anyone is going to use any of these pictures as their backgrounds, I really find this going to far, I already consider the galleries to be slightly getting out of control.

Tom, how do you keep track or earmark those that would potentially go there out of all these images? I thought you had to have a certain number for a gallery too before posting this but then saw that wasn't the case with the rework gallery so took another stab at it.

Also, when I first got here I thought desktop images were for an image along with a place for icons, etc. Learned quickly it is very much a "to each his own" choice and we all vary tremendously on what we choose for our desktop viewing pleasure and what we need to have available to us on our desktop as well. I personally love to get up in the morning, come here with my coffee, and have quite a variety of choices to enjoy for the day. Each satisfies a mood and a very important one to me is humor.

Darryl,

Do you mean... Extreme Chicken Sports ?

Yes, that would be great for the "Humor" gallery. :c)

I personally think that there are alot of viewers here that would like to see humor instead of just viewing Water,Trees, Flowers and Grass growing pictures for wallpaper. If there's nothing wrong with having a Flower or Landscape gallery, then my personal opinion is there is nothing wrong with a Humor Gallery. I'm all for it. ( Just speaking my mind).

Thanks everyone for these responses. It's often a bit of a risk bringing something to the discussion board. I hate to put all this on the mods. I know the site is overwhelming as it is. I just feel a good humor section is right up there with all you list and more too Terry. Then again, with that said and if this happens, I do dread the "what's humor and what's over-the-line" discussion that I fear might follow. ;0

What's is over the line?
We'll have to decide on a case by case basis...
First, use your common sense before uploading. Members have to remember that there are kids that browse Caedes.net, and several of them are talented, posting members. I know of a 12 year old and a 9 year old that post their own pictures here, and a good % of their images have made it to the permanent galleries.
Prejudice is not humorous... but I doubt we should have a problem with that, being such a global community here.

To answer bjb's question about how to earmark the images, just send me a PM with the image's name. When I get enough names from the PMs, I will create the gallery. :c)

I guess I should have added that the images should be humorous regardless of the title. If it is funny without the title, then it is suitable for the gallery. To give you an example of I will use two very similar images by our friend Monkeypuzzle, Humorous Title and Humorous Image

Why is the second one funny? Well, when was the last time you saw a school of skeletal fish going about their business like nothing is amiss.

Can a picture be in two Galleries at once?
Samatar suggested my pic "Mother always said to eat my greens" could go in the proposed Humour gallery, but it would obviously have a home in the Photography->Animals section where it currently lives.
It obviously has more in common with the other residents of "Animals" than, for example, Mayne's "Extreme Chicken Sports"

Neken- I saw that image... it should stay in the "Animals" gallery. It is just a cute picture without the title. :c)

I think Piner is on track here,Joshua Muggletons 'Me on a bad hair day' and Kknies 'Here's looking at you kid' are also animal photos but are clearly posted for their humor and would be hilarious without the titles. I think the whole over the line discussion could stop Caedes from doing something fun. We all know what's funny and were not talking about dirty jokes. I love humor on my desktop. There are exceptions to the titles thing though, Signpainters title for 'three piece chicken dinner' is a brilliant punchline.

Thank you dreamer, I personnally think that if a picture is funny or just creative from someone that it should be viewed to everyone as long it stays formal in the presence of minors. I have quite a few of funny pictures to share, but I'm going to sit back and not go on with them unless requests are made. I'm a new commer here and it's not my decision to try to start something like this. But personnaly again, I like to log in on Caedes and see some humor to start my day out, or to have a laugh on a bad day. And I'm sure I'm not the only one here that feels the same.

It is just a funny expression which means be wary of the people around you and don't get caught doing something that goes against your better judgement. I did not mean anything really, just a fun comment that I free associated with the humor gallery, Pierre;-)
