When you say "Movie clip" do you mean an AVI file or similar? There would be a way to do it, but the quality will be quite low, nowhere near the quality of a photo. As for changing the res. of your pic, what is it now and what do you want to change it to? You can change it easily even if you only have a very basic app like paint, but it would be easier to explain if we knew those details.
The only way to increase the resolution without reducing the quality of the image would be to put a border around it. Easiest way I think would be to open a new image in the size you want (say 800X600) and then paste the photo into it. I don't know how to capture a frame from an MPG but there would probably be free apps available that do this if you do a search. As I said before though, you will probably be dissapointed with the quality.
Just a thought! Say you play the mpg on your monitor, when it gets to the image you want to capture hit the print screen key on your keyboard. Open up your image editor and paste (Ctrl + V) the image. Will give it a try:-)(
I don't think it's possible to capture from WMP. It depends on how the software writes to the screen. I believe if it uses lower-level calls direct to the hardware, all you get is a blank screen when you try to capture.
That said, some software allows it. I know for a fact that Intervideo's WinDVD allows captures ('p' key during playback). WinDVD can play some clips other than DVDs as well, though I believe it's limited to MPEGs.
you can capture using print screen with Windows Media Player with a little bit of know how...but it wont work full screen, so you have to just have media player running as large as you can get on your screen..but before pressing the 'Prt Scr' button you need to do something in media player first. goto the media player 'tools' then 'options' then the 'performance' tab and turn the 'video acceleration' slider down to NONE.. now when running the movie you will be able to use the print screen button.... but remember it wont work full screen.. so just stretch the player till it fills as much of the screen as possible!
if you open it in quicktime and pause the frame you want - you can copy and paste into photoshop - then use a plugin like genuine fractals or pxlscale to increase size.
well Daryl, i often like to use movie stills to make desktops for myself and so one day i was looking into ways of capturing stills with different programs..and discovered the WMP 'prt scr' button conflict and found a way to solve it :D
