I was actually thinking of the exact think just a few minutes ago as I looked through the contest gallery. I've been in art groups in the past where this was popular.

oh wow...that sounds like fun. Actually, that would be nice to just pick an image to add to. It would be a nice break from trying to create an entire image by myself. I've never heard of mob art.

that would be really interesting and fun... there is a wide range of talent out here.. but i agree with Sean there could be a lot of problems, and there would definately have to be a limit on how many can participate.. maybe it could be a few different themes and first in gets to be involved.... just a thought

well maybe we could have a little signup sheet first, let's say 20 people, first come first serve, and it determines the order in which people get to modify the image. Then just throw out a starting image and everybody has two days to play with it or something. Sounds like fun!

Generally you just ask "Who wants to do a colab?" and then people just pass the image around untill done. It is usually rather informal.

you might want to do one image with photography and one with other(ab, frac, etc.)
some of the digital art people might be leary to mess with the photos and visa versa

Didn't we have a discussion a while ago about a gallery where people would post images they would like to see modified? My memory is so bad.

I guess that as Caedes says it could be fairly informal anyway - maybe we don't really need a gallery, people will find ways to do it if they want to.

this sounds great ... but one question - how do you know when the image is finished - with the talent that i have seen in here i feel that no matter what image has been posted someone could always better it. I feel that the talent of the members in here is endless.

they have earlier suggested a pool, say 10 volunteers. Once all 10 have destroyed the image, then all done :)

starts and than someone comes behind them and adds something to the the work and someone behind that person,etc.etc..
It could be a fun project to see how it starts and ends as a group project.
there would have to be guidelines and a stopping point I dont know how to figure that out but the notion itself if worked out could be a lot of fun.
