Recently I noticed that while I generally upload in a 1538x1025 size, the final result ends up being 1680x1050 which tends to distort my images. If you look at THIS RECENT UPLOAD in the largest size, my poor petals are all squished. Have the size rules changed?

PJ, it is appearing at 1528x1025 on my screen as the largest sized and when viewed, nothing is squished or torqued or distorted.
There have been no rule changes as far as uploading sizes go.
Maybe someone who is a bit more savvy than me will come along and help you with whatever is happening.
I just wanted to reassure you that the image viewed perfectly for me :)

I only get it as far as 1440x900 - my screen's resolution. Not squished looking as far as I know, but maybe if I was to compare it with the original...
If your screen resolution is close to one of the pre-prepared sizes, the site will offer the image at your screen resolution. This will only happen if you image is within 150 pixels of the correct height or width to avoid too much stretching.
