I noticed desaturated images tend to not be as successful on this site. Therefore I will be uploading them in great density.

Most of the images that I do are desaturated a bit to take the edge of the colors.

I was refering to photographic manipulation. But good technique there, I've noticed this in your gallery.

When you consider that the title of the site is still "Caedes Desktop Backgrounds", most of the non-regulars, the majority of users by far, are still looking for backgrounds. I don't know about you, but I doubt I'd think of b/w as a good background, no matter how amazing. Sepia or something with a color cast is another story, though. Just trying to explain the lack of success (or perhaps issuing a challenge). :)

well, I'm currently pursuing a goal to have a successful image of every type (including outside of photography). I think it will be very difficult with this type of image. I understand that colorful images are much better for desktops. But I take the challenge!!!!!

I agree with you Anthony ..very unsucessful. But i also disagree with you Mike. I think that a good B&W desktop (depending on the image) can be just as nice as a colored or sepiaed image. (espeically "And the Darkness... By Mrwalow. and that is also a very sucessful image. But its debatable that that is a different story, i dont know view the image and see for yourself. its in my favs just to let you know). Think about it.. I guess of course that you dont have to agree.

I'll admit to overstating my claim, but I was only giving a reason they aren't as successful. And while "The Original Skyscraper" is an awesome shot, I haven't personally used it as a wallpaper. :-p

Ok. Well I still think a good b&w desktop is just as good as any regular colored image.

IAgree the bridge image is an excellent example of a great B&W image, But I feel that the image of the prairie church that camerahound posted and many of photoimagery’s images are quit good also. I think one of the key things forgotten in some of the attempts to create a B&W image is forgetting to ad defused glow to give more of a white balance and a touch of grain. Then increase the contrast a little to add depth.

Art is the perception of the creator. Meaning is the perception of the viewer. acceptance is the perception of society.

thats a very good point. Its extremely important to increase contrast when changing to BW imagery.
