Although no longer freeware, tierazon is really good at creating fractals. Since it used be free there are still some sites that have the free version installer. You'd have to search tho.

However, if you want a fairly good fractal program that is open source I'd suggest The GIMP.

I use Tierazon ... go to www.fractalarts.com/ASF/Download.html its a free download... plus it has fractint etc on there too........... enjoy
