Is there any way....the personal Avitars...could possibly be increased to maby like... 19K instead of just 5?
Keep the physical Size the same, but...any chance for a few more bites of "creativity"?

I mean.....5K? Guess I'm curious why the avitars are so Cheap.

The reason is that caedes doesn't want lots of garish animated avatars on the discussion boards.

Greg, the avatar size is limited as it is a loading issue.......especially for our friends who are on dial-up. :=)

I can understand that, Definately. I was just thinkin a "bit" more size to like 19K, yet keeping the 60X60 size dementions, might give a "little" more latitude.

I think avatars should be banned and everyone should have to speak in old Latin.

I think Sam should be badly beaten by little blinking eyes and smilies & funny flashing signs.

Works for me! I still speak a bit of "Old Latin"! :-)

I really wasen't even thinking "animated" avitars. All that blinking and flashing is rather annoying. I'm not real fond of those, but to each his own.. I was thinking mainly just sharper, clearer more detailed Avitars. Sams is really cool, Sharp too. Well compacted into 5k.

BTW Sam, how come your website Link don't work?

I don't know... probably something to do with WHA shutting down although that isn't supposed to happen until the twentieth...

Fooled around under the 5K limit today, and came up with some color this time. :-)

If you have photoshop you should use "Save for web". That makes staying under the size limit quite easy. I imagine other decent imaging apps would have a similar function.

I'll give it a try. I've got Photoshop. I'll try another one later, get it a bit sharper and see how that looks.

I don't have any problems with the 5kb limit, in fact my avatars usually take just 2kb to 4kb, without any compression, (~8

Here's why;
EXIF and IPTC data that is embedded in the JPEG file takes up very little space (just a few kb) but when the size of your avy gets small, these few kb do matter a lot, just delete them (as in save for the web as Sam suggested) or find yourself a JPEG cleaner as in here,

I like the size just the way it is...small and out of the way, any bigger they might get annoying...to be honest there are some folks Avatars I'd rather not see any larger...as I'm sure mine may bug other people. Simple and undistracting is my motto

It provides me with a challenge each time I update my avatar.
I've not had much of a problem so far..even with some animated ones.

Rumor has it when the avatar size changes we'll also be gettin' a "free" pancake day!!

I just wanted the added Size, maby up to 17KB in bytes for more color, detail and lattitude in creating Avitars.
The 100 X 100 is cool. And as far as I'm concerned, they could disallow animated avitars all together.

I like Animated Avatars.
But tbh, you can get clear and colourful avatars at this size.

Yes you can. Takes a bit of work though. All I was suggesting was a little more lattitude to "work". Like maby to 17K.
