Is anyone aware of a tool in photoshop that will allow you to make a certain part of an image black and white without using the lasso. What I'm looking for is maybe a "black and white" or "desaturation" paint brush......does such a thing exist?

Actually....I think I've just answered my own question! ha! I can just duplicate the layer, desaturate or greyscale it, then place the colored layer on top and erase the portion that I want to be black and white...that should do the trick, right? If anyone has any other suggestions I'd be happy to hear them :D

select the area you want to change with the lasso, then make a new layer and choose a gradient. then you can mess with the new layer's attributes until you get the desired effect.

desaturate the entire image, set the history brush to the moment in history b4 the desaturation, and do some colorful painting

You can go Image>Adjustments>Replace color. Then you can select specific colors to be replaced with black & white ect. It's pretty simple to use.

i dont think she wants specific colors to be replaced imagewide, just all colors in certain parts of the image.
