A 'Top New Image' Without a C-Index?

Hi, I don't want to blame Heidlerr or his image for this.. but I just have a question about the picture: "StMarys"... How is it possible that, that image is a 'Top New Image' in spite of it has only 8 views, 5 downloads, and that it don't have enough votes to have a C-Index? Just wondering how this is possible... In spite of it's a great photo, how is it possible to be a 'Top image' like that way?

it was probably rated really hi with its first few votes and was just shy of getting enough for the c-index to show (even tho it had already been calculated). If you check it now it has a c-index of 90

For some reason I think this has been brought up before. I don't know where though, I couldn't find anything on it. To be honest I have no idea why this would be, must be some bug in the scripts or something like that. =) I'm sure Caedes can figure it out though...

I have seen images go to the top overnight just to land near average or lower the next day. Who knows? This has happened several times since the change in formula. It balances out after a day or so.

All images get their c-index calculated each night, however it is only displayed for images with at least 5 votes.

Thats odd, I've had images with only 4 votes and the C-Indexes were displayed lol

Well ahhh what does it take to get a C-index of 90 How many views, downloads, votes basically it seem's to be how fast you get bumped in New images pages. I think if you have a new image and it's getting a higher rating than the others it should stay on the first or second page according to the those criteria. You may break 80 in the first day but on the 2nd and third it fall's so far back you aren't able to get a C-index high enough to get into a gallery. Also, I think you should consider seperating the photgraphs from the computer images. It would be better to have 2 galleries for New images one for Photographs and the other for Computer Created Graphics. Just my opinion. Don't you agree Rad and PuMa

I dont really think you need 2 galleries for new images.. if you dont want to look at photographs and only want computer graphics.. and vice versa.. you skip them... it doesnt take much to click on the forward arrow to turn the page if there is nothing that interests you.... you say 2 galleries for photographs and computer graphics.... where would illustrations go ?... that is neither photography or graphics..? for me I like all types and to make it into 2 or 3 different galleries is too much stuffing around.... but thats just my opinion... take care.. :D ........ its already seperated, as with the permanent galleries the new images gallery has subdivisions. simply click on new images, then on one of the expanded subgalleries to see specific types of imagery.

The way i read it (which i could have read wrong :D) was that he wanted the main New Images page divided into two.. anyway this hasnt really got anything to do with the the c-index... which was the original question.... lol

Hmm I agree with both of you I think, Jacqueline and MrXwild.. I don't know a good answer for it actually. But I do still think that there is something wrong with the C-indexes.. Just like my image; ' Treballski - 4' . Sunday, it was a 'top new image' with a c-index of 8.8 . One day later... it became a C-index of 7.7 . Without that there where many votes added in that night.. for me, it looked very strange... and I don't think that there where 3 people or something that gave me 1. Maybe it's good to show what everyone has voted on the picture? Or do you think that that's a personal thing, and no one have to see that? Or maybe the artist only can see what everyone has voted on his or her picture?
I hope you can understand my English... it isn't always that good :)
