FAQ Team?

I think that an FAQ team and a FAQ board would be a good addition to this site. I got this idea from http://www.mandrakeusers.org, on that site there is a FAQ board, and a team. The team consists of “mod type" people. The way it works is that anyone can post an FAQ (or a tutorial) the FAQ team then reviews the FAQ and if it is of good quality it is pinned to the top of the FAQ board. I think this would be a good idea for things such as, image composition, using filters for cameras, Photoshop help/ tutorials, equipment suggestions, and various other topics, (there are an endless amount of ideas that can go here). I think that something along these lines would greatly improve this site, and would provide a great resource to people looking around on the web... (Maybe this could be a registered user only resource...)

we have a tutorials section where all of this information can be found and posted by not only moderators but by any user, if you wanted to post intrstructions on some way of using caedes, or using software, or using a camera, or whatever you want, you can upload a tutorial into the tutorials section.

I have used the tutorial section here many times and have found it great ... easy to find and more importantly ... easy to understand

well, i think that there are some problems with the tutorial there http://www.caedes.net/Zephir.cgi?lib=Caedes::Infopage&image=ppigeon-1077476183.jpg
for example, the image in question, the one that the tutorial is about has been deleted... so if i wanted to follow the tutorial i couldn't because the image has been deleted...

i think that the tutorial section here is ok, i am specifically talking about other things like filter use tutorial, not just making and modifying certain images. Or something like an expalnation of focal lengths and certain lenses, and f stops, and stuff like that. Then for photoshop, i think the tutorials that we have are good. but i think the way that they are posted should be changed. they are being posted like a picture, and then the explanation is in the comments or something of the sort. I think that there should be a different way to post the turtorials, like a discussion that includes pictures to the side. here is an example of what i am trying to describe: http://www.solarvoyager.com/tutorials.asp maybe something similar to this... there is a description of what the tutorials are and then the tutorials are assembeled in the way that i mentioned above...

I completely agree, a repository of information on photography, Photoshop, etc. would prove to be an invaluable resource. Then, when an individual has a simple question, they don't have to post a thread; they can look it up in the FAQ.

I think the tutorial section works as freely as you want to make it work. If the original image is gone, or you wanted to make a longer description or present it in another way, you can always link to a page you have made from the image description. The only thing that can hold the tutorial section back would be not posting tutorials. If you want to see them, and you have the knowledge, feel free to share it!!

(i've read every single tutorial on the site and learned quite a bit from them, alot of techniques that I still use in my everyday habits)

The FAQ's board is a pretty good idea. The only problem is that I've yet to add the ability to make discussion topics 'sticky'. Otherwise I'd go for it. Maybe someone would be good enough to make the recomendation on the dev site for me?

Ok, well I seem to stand corrected, On Mandrakeusers, the FAQ board is actually different, but i think that it is better than i thought. The actual FAQ board is read only, ie only FAQ team members can move topics to it. (this is where i am chainging the idea abit) OK so there is the Main FAQ board which is read only (only FAQ team members can move threads to the board. But i suggest that there be another (mod view only board) in which new faqs are entered into. Like the way pictures are submitted, when a picture is submitted, it goes to a moderator, and they have to approve it before it goes into the new image gallery (right?). Well this would be the same thing, the faq would be submitted to that board, but before it was posted to the read only board, a Faq team member must aprove it. This is kinda like mandrakeusers. The only problems that i see here are the way in which the FAQ's would be posted, but that is an issue that could be dealed with later. (ie if someone wanted to post a tutorial that included pictures, the entry method would have to be modified, but it shouldnt be to hard...) Thanks for considering it caedes...

would this section not negate or eliminate the tutorials section or cause redundancy?

Not at all Anthony, because the tutorial gallery is meant more for image editing. The FAQ is question-answer based. For example;Q= How do I blur a backgound when taking a picture? A= Decrease your depth of field. This information is available somewhere in the discussion forums but it takes much searching. I think this is a great idea for addition to Caedes.
