The versions of Vue 7 for artists have now (finally) been released, i.e. Pioneer up to Complete. Even better, if you download the Pioneer beta then you get a free licence for it when it comes out of beta. I'm not sure why it's got the beta label, but free is free so I'm not about to complain.
For the financially challenged, like me, you can start with Pioneer then add in the optional modules as you see fit. That allows you to upgrade all the way to complete one step at a time.
Apologies for sounding like an informercial, but I've been waiting for this to come out for quite a while so I'm pretty excited. I've picked up the RenderUp module so look out for some new images from me soon :)
I just did the upgrade from Vue 6 Esprit to 7 on my G4 and....zilch. The program crashes without fail on launch, Vue 6 is still stable though. I'm thinking that the last OS upgrade to 10.5.6 created a glitch that Vue 7 can't handle. Too bad, I was really looking forward to this upgrade. The mess that passes for tech support at Cornucopia & e-on software is a recipe for a migraine though.
By the way, I installed and launched Vue 7 Pioneer Beta for Macs and it consistently crashes the same way. Sent reports to Apple for both application failures, but it really isn't their problem.
That doesn't sound too good. 7 Pioneer beta seems to be fine on XP 32-bit.
The Cornucopia site's been down for almost 24 hours now with excessive traffic. Looks like they underestimated how popular a give-away was going to be.
I've been doing some searching through the different forums at Cornucopia & e-on and now I understand my problem isn't unique. Not fixed, but not unique either. There seems to be quite a bit of rage being directed at Vue 7 for Macs across the board. It isn't stable on the new Intel machines as well as older computers like my IBM chipped G4. There's some skuttlebutt about a '7.2' patch, but I can't find any links to it. The consensus seems to be that e-on released a poorly tested Beta version as a Final Release as far as Macs are concerned. I think enough heat is being generated that a fix will be available sooner rather than later. The inept rollout combined with complete silence about what is or isn't being done to fix the problem will stay in the collective memory for quite a while. The only similar experience I've had is with Roxio and their 'Toast' products - a complete and utter scam.
the 10.5.6 issues aren't restricted to Vue software - its caused all sorts of chaos. Extensis engineers found a work around in a matter of hours. maybe it will work for all apps too. unlikely as it sounds - it seems to be related to the name of your computer - try keeping it short with no character spaces (underscores are ok) and make sure the Bonjour name is the same)
