I'm fairly new to caedes and iv'e enjoyed every click since just arriving here. Compliments to the moderators and people who helped create the site.
A question pondered upon me of how i could get my art recognized. I realize it's not much =), but i figure since i'm new, maybe no1 really figures to look at my pictures ^^. Anyway, why i've posted this topic is for some of the newer or "looked down on" A+ caedes authors to get their name known (It's a start =P)

-Thanks,
Ice =D

I do not quite understand what you mean "looked down on" during my time here i have had nothing but help and good intentions offered ... when i decide what image to view i look at the image not the artist.
My advice is that if you want to be recognised .. produce good work.

i agree. I don't look at who is posting pictures, only look at the pictures.

Everyone should keep in mind that your art is getting seen. when people open new images and scroll through all the thumbs, they have no choice but to see the thumbnail of your images. Maybe you think you are assuming that people only click on certain users galleries rather than new images but you are mislead. Not to be harsh, but more often than not if your images arent being seen, its because they arent drawing attention and you need to work more. If you create good images, your images will be noticed. bottom line.
Other than viewing, and commenting, and being active, and basically sucking up. The best way to be seen is to create something worthy of being seen. There are very popular artists here, who rarely talk at all. But their galleries speak for themselves.

Agreed w/ noob. I was complaining because so many people were getting downloads and votes ^_^. I'm hoping over time that'll change... I realize it probably will. Thanks noob, for setting me staight on my whining =).

Since when did viewing, commenting, and being active become equal to "sucking up?" ;(
Since when did it become ok for the "popular" artists to be absolved from commenting, helping, etc.?
I find it sad that these posts begin in the first place. No one should have to come here to the boards begging for attention to their images! New artists especially. There's much we can do to avoid this!

I disagree with noobguy on this one. I've seen many times where ordinary images are given very high marks and praised to the highest while images that are far better are overlooked. Has classic photography become too boring and only computer generated images to be what everyone wants? We seem to be afraid to give an honest opinion of works that are lacking in certain areas so we just don't comment so as to not offend anyone. If the image is out of focus, over exposed, shaky, beautiful or whatever please tell us. Give us praise or give us tips on how to improve. If you download someone picture, be courteous enough to give a comment in return for its use. That's my opinion, what's your?

Russ, if you'll sort new images by c-index and consider what was chosen for the calendar you will see that photography is definately "in" on this site. Hope this helps. You know I think many of your works are top-notch. Please don't change your style. ;)

sorry BJ
what I meant by "sucking up" was commenting on peoples images, or doing the thanks you's in infos JUST to get people to look at your gallery. I never intended to down the regular members.
Russ, I'm not sure what u mean about photography not being popular. Seems to be doing well. Your gallery has good c-indexes and is well commented on. And one of your images is also being used for the calender! You are doing far better on the site than alot of others. Perhaps people comment on fractal/3d/abstract art more because its something not many can replicate themselves? But photography is still sucessful, and your gallery is very nice.

I'm not that concerned about my own images. I make them because I like them and I share them with Caedes in hopes that someone else might like to use them as a wallpaper. There are some nice images in Caedes that get overlooked and images that are average get higher praises. Let's encourage or advise our fellow artists. If you can, give the images that you view or download a comment or at least a vote. When hundreds of people view an image and it only gets a hand full of vote or comments, something is wrong. These are only my opinions and they are not expressed to anger anyone.

no problem, I think part of the reason images get thousands of views and few comments is cause most of the viewers (prolly 80%?) are not regular members. Or even members atall for the ones with 1000s of views (due to front page exposure).

I think people like pictures either of things that they don't see every day or a different perspective on things that they do see every day.
