Hi, i was just pondering to myself whilst eating crisps (chips to the americans) and staining my keyboard that i'd like to see some art work made without any of the new toys and filters that we are all guilty of using. I remember when i used to make desktops using only Paint (sadly was unaware that there was anything else till resently) but i know that i felt better on completion of a project then - than i do just clicking a few filters and wallagh (i'm sure i spelt that wrong - forgive spelling mistakes)

I would just like to see if anyone else did the same as myself and would sit for hours trying to blend one colour to another (simple NOW)

Mabey i should have got out more but those were the happier days of pc art for me - now i just feel overwhelmed with it all - filter this and fractal that - wheres cut and paste and zooming in?

In Short - should we get back to basics to see what we can come up with or i'm i on my own?

Hi. As someone who uses a relatively old program I empathize. I still do what I do one swirl, twirl, square, etc. at a time sometimes for hours at a time. At least it's relaxing. In my case I guess I'm just an old woman set in my ways. I've seen few things go in reverse with the exception maybe of fashion fads and I sure don't see the graphics world rewinding anytime soon if ever. However, I encourage your creativity in whichever way you feel the most self-satisfaction with. When it comes down to it, unless you are trying to make a living doing this by pleasing others, the only soul and desktop that you really have to satisfy is your own. Good luck. As long as you're having FUN there's no doubt you'll create masterpieces! ;)

I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn't say any other way - things I had no words for. Georgia O'Keeffe

I know exactly what you are talking about....I've been there...don't let yourself get caught up in things(esp filters); let your creativity flow aad follow your mind's eye...if that means you need a filter go ahead but don't rely on them to make an image good...

-->"Black then white are all I see in my infancy. Red and yellow then came to be, reaching out to me. Lets me see there is so much more, and beckons me to look through to these infinite possibilities. As below, so above and beyond, I imagine draw'n outside the lines of reason. Push the envelope. Watch it bend."--Lateralus, Tool
