I have never been near a real steam train lately and never been near one of the realy big ones but i found a picture(S) that i would have loved to seen on this site ( http://www.uprr.com/aboutup/photos/steamfreightaction/16306.shtml ) just looking at this made me feel things I have not felt in a while

I was wondering if this image could ever be posted on the site since it was not taken by one one here?

Also i was wondering about a contest for pictures of machines and mechanical devices, people spent hundreds of years of trial, error and discovering things to make the things we have today like cars, computers and steam trains It is just like how people biult huge churches and orther biuldings but we use it everyday and most of it is not noticed by anyone.

take the internal combustion engine for example. It has changed everyones lives and we all take it for granted and with out it our lives would be VERY diffrent and probably alot worsce than what we have, also the asembly line, the transisitor, electric lights and things like the telephone are all things we depend on all the times and have made our lives the way they are and are in my opinion the most influential things to happen to the earth for millions of years!

There are plenty of great images on the web that we don't have on caedes. I think that's what makes the site unique. Good idea for a future contest though. I love those shows on Discovery channel about the biggest/fastest etc. machines, esp. those that were built in Victorian times. Human enginuity really is amazing.

There's a project for you, Sam. Build Charles Babbage's difference engine in Bryce.
