I am in charge of a whole bunch of fun techie-type stuff at my church's middle school youth group, and I seem to have considerable influence over the projectors as well.
I received permission from Lucy as well as Andy to use a select few abstract images as backgrounds (thanks a bunch!). I love the atmosphere it gives to the dark room, and I also love telling people about my friends with amazing talents that I know via caedes.net. The trouble is that those few images have started to get a bit old.
I am asking for reccomendations on images by their authors who would be willing to let me use them as a projector background, and not to be sold or printed or any other of that kind of illegal stuff. The should mainly be lower-than-not contrast so words could be posted on top, but their is definately room for exceptions.
But words are things, and a small drop of ink, falling, like dew, upon a thought produces that which makes thousands, perhaps millions think and smile.
Art is everywhere, except it has to pass through a creative mind.
"And [Adolf Hitler] was a a vegetarian and a painter, so he must have been going, 'I cant get the f***ing trees d***! I will kill everyone in the world!'"
-->"Black then white are all I see in my infancy. Red and yellow then came to be, reaching out to me. Lets me see there is so much more,
and beckons me to look through to these infinite possibilities. As below, so above and beyond, I imagine draw'n outside the lines of reason. Push the envelope. Watch it bend."--Lateralus, Tool
You are more than welcome to make use of my images as well if any of them suit your needs.
In answer to your question, I'm sure that the authors would like to know if you've chosen to use their works...at least I think it would be fun to know :)
Luke, I think it would be nice to know the specific images you have chosen to use...although if you are planning on using many of them that may be a bit time consuming. :) Personally, I'd like to know the specific images, but that's really up to you!
Anyone else have an opinion on this?
Will do, although probably not before I use them. I am leaving town and won't have much time immediately. I hope to get up at least a list of the authors when I get back. Thanks again to all who offered, and please don't be offended if you don't have exactly what I am looking for. It is difficult to interest most middle schoolers with quality art, and I have to keep my apstor happy too. :-)
I have gone through the galleries from noobguy to groo2k so far. The trouble is that I find all these amazing images that I never knew about, but I know they won't appeal to the attention span of the audience. Also, I keep picking out the eye popping ones more often than the lower contrast ones, and I need an equal mixture of both.
So far, including the ones from the original batch, I have 48. I will cry if I have to make that many links... :-)
My thoughts exactly! As I have expressed before, it can't be too impressive; I have small attention spans to work with. :-)
Just to give you a rough idea so far, the original list included 6 images from Cain and 5 from co2metal. Added so far (only as far as I have gotten down the list) are 8 images from camerahound, 1 image from mia04, 1 from nontoxicday, 6 from noonbguy, 9 from Piner, 3 from ppigeon, 8 from Radjehuty, and 1 from uniquedreamer2004.
I will continue to move down the list, but this is still open to others as well. I also would appreciate specific suggestions for low contrast images of the abstract genre. Thanks a bundle! :-)
I am like Yin & Yang, my lighter side is balanced by my darkerside, embrace both & you get the whole me, play with one & you will meet the other...
