Caedes is one of he best sites for Art and wallpapers I have ever seen. I was wondering if anyone can refer me to a site for screensavers without all the adware ala caedes. Thanks.

For $3 a month you can remove all the ads on the site. I had forgotten they even existed...

Sam, I think what muddylocks wanted was to find a screensaver site that is like caedes in that its downloads are free from adware and wasn't trying to say that the banner ads were any sort of a problem. I personally feel that the banners here are uninvasive and tastefully presented, and they are really no part of why I subscribe to the cadre.

Muddylocks, as an alternative to screensavers may I recommend what I have started doing. I use a program called Wallpaper Slideshow LT, which is available for free download at http://www.gphotoshow.com/wallpaperss.htm, that can be set to change your desktop image at any time interval. I hide my toolbar, eliminate all desktop icons, and minimize windows when I'm not using them and then I have a custom slideshow of my favorite caedes images on my desktop. If you're not one to have a cleared off desktop, I think the program may also have screensaver functionality but I'm not positive.

P.S.

I think as long as you uncheck the search toolbar box during the installation of that program it comes without adware, but I make no promises about that.

It would be cool to have a caedes branded screensaver that got images off the website.

Could you create an internet-connected screensaver client for us always-on LAN folks that grabbed its images randomly from an online database of the same images that show up under featured image, or from a custom "favorites" list controlled by each username, or would that eat up too much server power? It would necessarily have to pre-load the images before each change in the slideshow. It sounds like something that would need its own dedicated server but maybe it could be offered as a premium program.

If it was coded well it wouldn't be a drag on the server. The only problem is that it would have to be for windows and I have nearly zero experience or desire to develop windows software. Maybe someone would be interested in taking it on as a small project?

Good morning
Hope this is not out of place. I just discovered today that I can create screensavers for Windows using IrfinView32. Been using this brilliant and nifty little program as my image viewer/image resizer for many years, but just call me slow, it took me this long to find this option. A couple of little things - there is no capacity once the screensaver has been made (standard .scr file) to change settings, and if you use a desktop wallpaper changer, every time it changes the wallpaper the screensaver drops out (same as when touching the mouse or keyboard). If neither of these issue are of concern, then this may be the way to go. Best thing - IrfinView is free software.

I am a long time fan of this site. But so many of the fractals are in a smaller format than my new computer needs. Is there any way to expand their size after download?

Well, I was curious.. and after some quick googling.. came upon this free online image enlarger:

ImageEnlarger.com

And note..

"Storage of User Files and generated Data

All submitted files or inputs, as well as the converted outputs, are deleted automatically after half an hour. No backups are made and only employees of Maklabu GmbH are able to access your files. The files are kept for thirty minutes with the sole purpose of giving you enough time to download them. We do not look at them or mine any data from them."

... ...

Tried it out on one of mine, namely; "Japanese Sunset on Copper 2.0".. and afterward was presented with six (6) versions resized up to 3840 X 2400 (I had specified a "Zoom Factor" of 2).

The six (6) versions were the results of using six (6) varying enlargement algorithms/methods.

Downloaded and checked out one version on my monitor.. although you can preview the enlarged versions without doing so, I was just curious.. not bad.

... ...

The other alternative would be to look towards google for some free software that resizes, enlarges images.

Out of curiosity.. what resolution size are you looking for? Or, do you have a multiple monitor setup?
