I love, love, LOVE this website, and it saddens me to no end that when I get my 23" Apple screen soon that Caedes.net will quickly become useless since only 4:3 ratios are available :-(
Is there any site even remotely like this one that offers widescreen formats, namely 1920x1200? I realized all this just now and my mood PLUMMETED. I literally keep a collection of 800 images I've downloaded from this site in 15-minute random-selection rotations. It's the best desktop image site on the Internet...if you have a 4:3 monitor.
I don't expect a site of even remotely similar quality, but there must be somewhere...?
So...no? I mean, I guess stuff like 1600x1024 would work as well, I just don't want to be stretching 4:3 images. Scaling smaller widescreen pics would probably be okay.
were all saving up for the hi def Apple 30" beast instead - 2560 x 1600 - byepassing it's smaller siblings and simultaneously emptying our bank accounts - do not pass go do not collect $200 etc etc.
I tried uploading one of my images in widescreen recently (1400 x 900) as well as in 1600 x 1200 to see how it would fare. I specifically asked that anyone who had widescreen comment on whether it was useful or not; so far the "normal" image has a c-index of 86 and 10 comments; the "widescreen" version is rated 52 and has one comment, basically saying the widescreen thing is a good idea, but that they don't have it so won't be using it. This suggests to me that there really isn't enough demand for widescreen wallpapers on caedes, at least at the moment.
The problem with asking about demand for it on an image is that if people with widescreen montiers don't click on the image because they don't like it, or they arn't computer apt enough to put it together they wont say anything, or like the image. Also people with those kind of moniters may not stay at the site for very long. Its a tough thing. Widescreen people might have to just crop their images to that scale or put some bars on the side, or find pictures with bars on the bottem and crop those off, untill its alittle more common.
