If you read the Code of Conduct, Adam, you'll see that these kinds of images (trademark infringements) are not wanted or allowed on this site. You could upload on spymac, but here we'd like to see your original work.
Even though you say that it is a 'model' (I guess you mean 3D model) it still just looks like a stock product photo that has been poorly enlarged. If you have a higher resolution render of the model where we can tell that it is in fact a computer rendered image then I'll accept. it. Something at least 1280x1024 pixels would do it.
My understanding is that if you create an image which contains the logo of a well-known product, or the face and/or body of a famous or recognizable public figure or celebrity that has been derived solely from copyrighted origin (book or CD covers, movie posters, TV and computer screenshots, adver- tising copy, etc.), then Caedes potentially faces a lawsuit for infringement. The grey area here is that no one should be doing this for sole credit or to demean or humiliate the subject. An image submitted by a member, the theme and content of which is clearly the work of the author, and in which certain aspects might contain copyrighted material but only in a peripheral sense, should be acceptable to upload to the site. As long as such copy- righted or public domain material is not the central theme of the image, nor clearly identifiable as such, then the image would qualify as the member’s unique work and be acknowledged as such.
well, i already uploaded a better render of it. though, i made it using planes boxes ect and i used meshsmooth on the object and texture to try and make it more clearer. so this is 3d my unique work. and i guess if i understand you carrectly. before uploading it i should have removed the word sony and psp i guess? and it was made in 3ds max 7 full. i hope it's all good :)
The problem that I have with posting the image is that you have basically taken a photograph of the unit from Sony promotional material and then used it as a texture on a _very_ rough 3D model. I don't consider that to be an original rendering of the subject. In order for it to be original you would have to do all the work yourself. This means that instead of using the photo as a texture you'll have to actually model all the individual buttons and other elements. Admittingly, this is a lot more work, however that is what makes it ok for redistribution. You have to add a considerable amount of value to the work in order for you to make it your own.
The up side of this is that an original 3D model completely made from primatives would look really awesome. I'm sorry that we've made this extra hassle for you, but these gray areas in copyright law are always difficult to deal with. Thanks.
