Just had a scout around Eon's website looking at the upcoming release of Vue 5 Infinite and it made me think of two things. First - why I dislike Terragen so much largely due to it's limited generic and somewhat bland interpretations of nature and secondly, made me wish I was still in education so I could buy it for a third of the RRP. damned students :-)
Some of the examples they have on show are mind boggling especially the mega polygon count rock face and trees. awesome stuff indeed.
BTW in Terragens defence I think it's a pretty decent freeware app; it's just that most TG images you see here on caedes don't take advantage of it's capabilities. Take a look here to see what I mean. I have also heard that the next version of TG will include the ability to add vegetaton. Howevere I agree that vue5 looks pretty fantastic (and pretty complicated)
Actually I think that the more complex an app is, and the more options it has, the harder it is to get it right. So if anything TG2 will probably mean even less quality uploads than we got with TG1 (although if it is more complex it might discourage people who just want to do simple experimental type stuff I guess).
