it was never guaranteed your pictures would make the permanent galleries. for all the rest of you out there, this is a great learning community, and hopefully you'll get encouragement on your work, but there is no guarantee they will stay. afterall this is a wallpaper site, not a personal image storage page. we'll miss you.

This is from the top of the pages of the "new images" gallery:

"This is where all newly uploaded images are initially displayed. At the discretion of the Mods, images may eventually be moved to one of the permanent galleries or removed from the site."

And we have this from the FAQs page:

"There is no promise that we will keep every image that is uploaded to the site. We try to keep every image for a minimum one month. If an image has been on the site for more than a month, we will make a decision on whether or not to keep it. The objective being to highlight the best images that are uploaded and to make room on the server for new images. If we did not do this the good images would be too difficult to find and the server would be too expensive for us to afford."

Looks like skk13 never read either one. I looked and their images were not removed by a mod, apparently they were automatically deleted by the server after the set time period.

Make the grade and the cut with an amzing image & they stay, don't and they won't, how hard is it to work out?

People throwing wobblers over this really is pathetic.

If you want your images to stay online, get ya own domain and webspace, then host & pay for the bandwidth yaself, don't crib at someone who offers you the chance to show them for free with the proviso that if they are GOOD ENOUGH, they will stay here. If not good enough they go.

Spitting ya dummy out over this when it is more than well advertised and part of the general policy is not only moronic, it's self defeating & shows that you cannot read or understand plain, well put english & rules/guidelines.

I'm guessing someone isn't going to be missed all that much.

I must assume skk13 may actually be that old , cause they are sure acting like it, not understanding why this person got so bent? I mean I'm a newbie but I started doing art work for myself to enjoy, I consider this site a privlage and there for am grateful and honored I am able to even upload. I reckon some people are that self-centered they don't look @ the big Picture here... Thanks a bunch to the people that make Caedes Possible...

there have been several posts about this...me included on other discussion topics. One thing that I have suggested is possibly some sort of visual countdown on an image before it is deleted. OBviously this would be removed if the image was put into a gallery.

*Hints to Caedes about the repeated suggestion* Is it workable?

I don't really like that idea. I can just imagine posts like "Why hasn't my image been moved" when it gets close to deletion time. As it is pretty much every image gets at least three months in the "New images" gallery, which is more than fair.

I could understand ssk13's pain to a small degree, but the system is usually fair. There was an image or two in my gallery that I feel were deleted unnecessarily, but most of the rest definately deserve to be deleted and probably will in due time. The system works as well as could be expected, and I certainly am not in the position to create my own site; hence I have no reason to complain.

I would like evryone who reads this to know that I greatly appreciate the opprotunity given to me to grow in my artistic abilities by composing, manipulating, posting, and recieving criticism. Thanks to everyone who puts in time, especially caedes and the mods. :-)

& for those that feel an image was unjustly deleted, wow, here is an idea, upload it again, hardly rocket science is it. Maybe second time around it will catch more attention than the first. Or if it goes again maybe there is a message in that...

Well let’s look at it this way. This a free site, there in only having so much room for storage. So what do you think would happen if the images weren’t deleted? Answer is’ no space for new images.

I think the idea of a countdown to removal ticker is a good idea. I myself have been searching for a pic that must have been deleted. A countdown ticker gives us all a heads up and also, the possibility of names of past week deletions may be helpful as well. Just a thought. I know there is a chance that an image may get blown out to make room for others, but for those of us who love to "image shop" (especially if we don't get to get on every day) a countdown is a nice way to say hey, this is your last chance to catch this image.

I just figured that if a guy liked an image enough that if it got deleted there would be a void in their life they would just download it when they see it the first time.I agree with Samatar, I think all this would do is alert the artist that they need to start promoting the image in question because if they dont it will soon be deleted.

Way I see it is I'm pretty lucky to find a place to show off some of the things I do. If one get's the axe then it makes me want to make something better and see what happens. I don't really pay attenttion to the index as much as the downloads anyway. Everytime someone goes "woah!...cooooollll" and picks it as something to dress up a desktop I have made something that at least one person thinks is art and that's not too bad :-)

if an image that you see potential in gets removed from the site, try manipulating, enhancing, modifying, even reshooting, until you get the desired effect. perhaps it will then be accepted. I have learned that if you want to keep images on the site, simply create images worth keeping :p
