Ok...now I'm getting a little annoyed with the imagemods. I have had 6 images removed in the past 2 days. 2 of those were rated in the 70's...in fact were rated 2nd and 3rd in my list. Some of my works which I like have been removed in these culls.
What are the criteria in image removal? If it is just age of the piece, then it doesn't take into account any of the ratings or comments that have been received. Shouldn't it be based on ratings?
I wouldn't mind so much but for the fact that I am in the process of tweaking the images myself so the good ones stay on, and the ones that could do with some work are removed...and some of my good ones have been taken off.
If this continues, I will delete all my images and not use this site again, which is a shame because I like doing artwork that people appreciate, and everyone puts a lot of work into it.
Your images weren't deleted by imagemods. In fact, we don't even have the ability to delete images and haven't for some time; we can only move them to the "deleted" gallery (which is only available to mods). You have no images in the "deleted" gallery, whcih means they were permenantly removed automatically due to being in the "New Images" gallery for a long period. Any images that aren't moved to the permemnant galleries will be deleted eventually. Images are moved to the permenant galleries based entirely on the mods own discretion, as per the FAQ's and has been explained several times. Making threats is certainly not going to make anyone inclined to give you an advantage over everyone else. I thought I had already explained all this to you yesterday in a PM, so don't really understand why you're bringing it up again here...
In that case, despite having reposted Dragon Flame not only yesterday, but also today, why has it not appeared again? It is being reposted because it was a fairly popular image, and the opportunity to save that image should be there.
Is it not possible to put some sort of built in warning on the system to say...your image has been selected for deletion on this day.... so I can at least let people know on the image itself?
I just find losing 6 images in 2 days to be a little excessive.
The resaon the 'reposted' image has not appeared in the new images gallery is that it is in fact a repost. The whole point in removing old images from the galleries is to make room for new images. If we keep reposting the same images over and over again then that will sort of defeat the purpose. I agree that the image should have the opportunity to be saved, just not on this site. You are free to put it on your own website since that is the only place that you can be sure it can stay permanently.
Permanence is not the issue, I'd just like to have some warning is all. By saving, I mean that of the other members on their own computers. After all, if you haven't got round to saving it, you might appreciate the warning. I have started having to save images because a few that I liked and had in my favourites disappeared before I had sorted things out.
Goto the upload page and read The Fine Print section, that will explain everything about the problem that you are experiencing. As far as warning goes just tell everyone you know if they want a copy of a certain image that is in your gallery to download it before the month specified in The Fine Print section of the upload page is over,if they don't it may or may not be on the site after the time has expired.
"If this continues, I will delete all my images and not use this site again, which is a shame because I like doing artwork that people appreciate, and everyone puts a lot of work into it."
If you lost 6 images in 2 days, I would imagine that simply means that they were also uploaded around the same time, maybe in the same week, so they all expired at the same time as well. Thanks for the profuse apologies anyway ;-)
