Just a newbie question - what else do you do with these incredible, wonderful, fantastic picures? I feel incredibly lucky to be able to download for free and have this view of the world on my desktop, and I will try to comment more than I do. Its just that I try not to just say, great shot, time after time. Do you sell your work? Are you in a gallery? Is this just for fun? Does anyone make money with their work? Just wondering . . . I really love this site. You make my day.

Once too, I came to this site for the beautiful images. For a long time I was afraid to give my opinon. Then one day someone said something I felt was very hurtful, so I tried to tell the person how wonderful I felt the image was. Ever since that day I have given an honest opinon even if it is only "Great image". Any comment is better than none. I finally got enough courage to learn how to make fractals, and submit my work. This site is my gallery. For me it is fun and it is also a way to control my depression. I do not make any money off my images, I wouldn't want to. Just to have other people see them and think they are beautiful, is enough. It is an honor to be a part of the community here. I welcome you. Maybe someday you can contribute also.

Today would be a good day for that. :-)

I am pretty sure that no money is made here, but there is potential in this field. You can make tons of cash off of company logos, advertisements, tracks, posters, or even backgrounds for things like powerpoints (all assuming you had the right connections; finding buyers can be tough).

For me, giving back is giving detail in my comments. I appreciate when people say why they like or dislike my work, but they rarely do. I figure I can't ask for someone else to do something that I won't. Also, contributing a couple bucks to keep the site running is a nice gesture with several advantages, but I shouldn't be the one saying this (I haven't been in the cadre for months!).

Good morning

Same as you, came across the site just looking for nice pictures for my desktop. What I found as well was a community. At this time, the work I have displayed here is my only gallery, but have plans when I have moved to my new home (about 4 to 6 weeks away) to set up a gallery where artists (including myself) can display their work and make sales - touristy area, so possibility. For me, there is the sheer pleasure of creating an image that others enjoy. Anyone wants to buy any of my work, am open to reasonable negotiation <grin>

Enjoy your day

Romane, if your new home is 4 to 6 weeks away .. you might consider a place that's a bit closer. That's a heck of a commute. Just a thought. ;)

Good morning Rob

You know, hadn't thought of the travelling time. Does that mean I'll have to quit my nice new job and find another where I'm going?

Some members (such as Yenom) make a bit of money directly from their photography by selling prints via services like daprints.com.

Romane, you could also just buy a car. I know they have cars in AU ... but roads .. that might be another problem.

We don't really need roads, normally we just hitch a ride in a kangaroos pouch.

I work as an electronics technician. My job has no relationship with imaging other than the rare camera repair or cleaning. But whatever pays the bills.
I intern with a newspaper, this to me also has no bearing on my creative imagery.
I turn on my art as assignments in school, submit them to caedes for free, or place them in the school art gallery once again for free.
Show me how to make a good living off of creative photography and I will be your best friend for life.

It is so good to do something for free !
If Caedes gave me $1,00 per download, I would be so rich that I wouldn't have any more time to discuss with you on this forum, hehehe... ;-)

I'm a working freelance sports photographer and have been for the past 19 years. I generate my full income from photography, but use Caedes as a place to contribute to the pool of photographic knowledge and showcase some of my creative work.

Jobs... is a 4 letter word.. let me see what "Jobs" do i do:- a mother, nurse, accountant, cook, taxi driver, referee, cleaner, bank, receptionist (always answering phone for my son), counselor, hair dresser, fashion consultant, vet... hmmm anything else...

As for making money on images.. i have made a couple of $$ on mainly "Road Of Purple" plus i have done some photo work for a local sports club.. but apart from that .. none... i do this as therapy to keep my sanity... lol..( think its too late for that).. always been into art.. always been creative... and now that i have discovered graphic art and photography... there is no stopping me.... (my parents are running out of room on their walls... hehehehe)

Romane.. where is that road.. im sure ive seen it somewhere before...

Good morning Jacqueline

On the road to Donnybrook on the way to the prawn farm (you like prawns?), straight after crossing Elimbah Creek, there is a road off to the right. That is the remains of the old road immediately beside the road to the right.

Um. Sanity. Wot's that? I did hear the word before..... once..... somewhere :)

Enjoy your day
