I am trying to print something from photoshop but the colors on the print don't match what is on my screen at all; it should be red but is coming out a sort of dirty yellow. I have run the color print test and there is no problem there. I am guessing it is something to do with the color profiles, but I don't really know much about them. I tried changing them randomly but that didn't seem to have any effect. Can anyone offer any advice?
Just set your printer to the same color profile photoshop is using and it should be close.By the way what kind of printer you have?I have my monitor, printer and all other graphics software using the same color profile.
It's a brother multi function centre. I have the printer set to "Generic RGB" and I have changed the print settings to match, but to no avail. It may not be the profile that is the problem but I couldn't think of anything else.
Sounds like your monitor might not be displaying the colors properly, that's the only thing I can think of that would cause such a drastic difference. If it were a profile issue, the colors might be a bit muted and dull, etc, but not appear to be a completely different color. That or it's an ink problem with the printer.
No it wasn't the monitor; I tried printing it at home and it worked properly (ie it was red). I can't figure out what the issue was but it's OK for now, I'll just use the home printer; but if anyone has any other ideas, it would be good to get the office printer working properly too.
I've had similar colour issues from using an un-known brand of ink cartridges! Everysingle yellow turned out green and every red as purple. The cartridge was replaced with many apologies from the supplier!
Thanks guys. I don't think it's the cartridge Grim since in the print test the yellow, red and cyan were clearly distinguishable; I think Trisberts problem sounds very similar to mine. I might have to ring Brother and ask them for help on Monday.
